Nothing like a Home Cooked Meal

We have all been stuck in our places we live for way too long, but it sure is nice when you have amazing cooks with you.

I am blessed to have my wife and my step-daughter who were both given the inspiration to cook by their mom\grand mom or otherwise known to all as Lala.

The introduction to good food came to me by my wife as I was used to good ole dry steak and over cooked chicken or frozen food and you can’t take away from the good ole fast food… UNTIL you eat food cooked right!

My mother in law could cook everything so amazing and could fill you up until you couldn’t be filled up and then add more on top of that. She blessed me with amazing fluffy white rice for the first time. She also blessed me with being able to show her how to make an omelet. She had not been able to make one before and when I showed her, she didn’t stop… literally that day… kept making them until she had it 100%. She was thrown off when I showed her mine, which is a 3 egg omelet. She said “How many people eating this?”… in her slightly broken English that was the best voice you ever heard.

Her daughter was blessed with the amazing skills by her and by skills I mean, the ability to randomly throw a perfect meal together without actually measuring anything or writing it down so others could know how to do it!

Her granddaughter, Iris (pictured), named after her, went to culinary arts college at Le Cordon Bleu and got her degree but the best degree in cooking she received was living with her grandmother and watching how she cooked.

The combination of cooking styles and techniques has allowed me to eat good at home!

If you are someone who doesn’t feel like you can cook and isn’t proud of your dishes… start by going on YouTube and searching for a simple recipe and follow someone’s video guide. You can find anything from an amazing Spanish Pork Shoulder (Pernil) to Arroz con Pollo (Rice and Chicken) to a good ole vegan or vegetarian dish by just a few clicks away. Don’t be afraid to be inspired and try new things and practice them….Lala did it, so can you!
