Tired of making the same food? We wanted something…new

I would like to start by saying that this is my opinion about Hello Fresh and I do not work for them, do not get paid by anyone to provide my feedback on any products or sites or services. I merely enjoy food and helping small businesses and people.
Now, back to the reason why I am writing this….. We were tired of the same dishes and going out to eat all of the time and can’t afford it. So we did as everyone pretty much did and made a bunch of different dishes using videos online and more.
Then I saw a thing where you can sign up for some FREE boxes of food and try out this “meals delivered to your home” service named Hello Fresh. I downloaded the application in my phone and ordered some food.
General Notes
- You do not need to be a chef.
- You do not need to know what you are doing.
- You do need to have some simple things in the house such as knife, a frying pan (get a non stick such as T-FAL), a baking sheet (like a cookie sheet used a lot), Oil of choice (we prefer Olive Oil), salt and pepper.
- Almost all ingredients are included, yes just about everything else including little bottles of vinegar when needed, ketchup, etc.
- Read the prep time listed and add about 15-20 minutes more until you get really good.
- When choosing meals weekly, you can pick meals for 2, meals for 4, etc. There is just the right amount for these selections in the kit. If you are by yourself and order for 2, there is plenty for leftovers. If there are 3 of you, get the 4 person meals and split the last one up or save it for who gets to the fridge first the next day.
- Be confident that you can do it!
- Prices per meal really depend on how you want to eat. Example – you can spend anywhere from $7.99 a meal to $20 a meal. We surely did not do the $20 a meal and stick with the $8.99 a meal roughly.
- Compare prices to when you order takeout, or go to a place to eat. I am sure you will see that it easily compares and you actually save money.
- Don’t order it for 7 days a week unless you are at home all the time and enjoy making your meals daily.
- Meals arrive on ice and you can pick the day of the week to have it delivered. So if you work daily and want to get it delivered on a Friday, you can pick it and have your doorbell camera alert you it is there and it will stay cold until you get home.
- Packets of spices are enough and in some cases may be a little too much for your taste buds, so like anything else, try a little on the dish first, and then add more to your liking. We all have different taste buds and different likes and dislikes.
- Updates and tracking are pinged to you when your meal ships and even if there is bad weather, they will deliver it the next day and email saying they are sorry.
- Try the one pan\pot meals FIRST so you don’t get discouraged with cleanup.
- See some of pictures below to see examples of what YOU can do also.
Do I suggest trying it out?
Absolutely! I suggest trying it and once you do you will start putting together the puzzles and joys of cooking and start putting together recipes in your mind without realizing you have learned to cook in new ways. The chefs they have chosen seem to have really known what they are doing and really enjoy “changing things up”. Did you ever think when you looked at your nachos with chili and cheese on top to flip that around and make a meal out of it? No, well they did. Oh and also add an egg on the top.

Discounts that they offer, do they work?
I used one that said “Get $110 off” and I thought that all of the first $110 of food would be free. Well then I read the discount\off part again. But, it works, you do get discounted $110 off so I spent roughly $30-40 a week for 2 meals each for 4 people! So yes, 8 meals for $30-40.
I am adding in a link that is listed in my phone app. that will give anyone a discount also if you want to try it. You can also find any offers they have online instead. Full disclosure, when someone uses your link and signs up, you get like $10 off\discount in your account. Again, full disclosure… I do not work for them and only can suggest my opinions and feel free to be you and make your own decisions, I am only here to help!
As always, Enjoy!
